LOJEAN DANIELS

PRINTED OBITUARY   (Adobe Acrobat Reader recommended)

WINTER SPRINGS – Lojean Daniels departed this life peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2021.  She was born on October 17, 1939 to the union of Gene & Lodie (Peagler) Hunt in Greenville, Alabama. Lojean, affectionately called “Susie” or “Lo”, relocated to Syracuse, NY after marriage in 1963.

Lojean began working as a Nursing Aide at Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital. In 1975, when her children were 11, 9, 5 and 2 years old, she enrolled in the Practical Nurse Program at Central Technical High School in Syracuse. She earned her degree in 1979 and went on to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Van Duyn Home and Hospital. She worked at Van Duyn until she retired after twenty-six (26) years of service. Lojean was an excellent employee who always treated her patients like she would want to be treated – with kindness and respect.

Lojean loved the Lord and dedicated her life to Him. Prior to relocating to Florida in 2010, she and her family were members of The Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, led by the late Bishop – Robert W. Jones – in Syracuse for over 40 years. Lojean was an avid member and sang in the choir for many years. The church was an integral part of her life and an extension of her family. She was well known at the church for her pound cakes, which she would oftentimes give as gifts.

Lojean loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. One of her favorite trips was to NYC every Christmas, where she would shop and enjoy the “Radio City Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes”. Her second favorite trip was to travel every summer to the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Convention with her brother Gene and her good friends Lisant and Wesley (Will) Spencer. Lojean enjoyed cooking, reading, bowling and attending both plays and concerts.  She enjoyed sewing; she sewed most of her girls clothing when they were young. Lojean also loved gardening. She maintained beautiful flower and vegetable gardens.

Lojean was a loving and devoted mother to her children. She cherished her family and was a doting Grandmother. She was a sweet and caring person. She had an incredible sense of humor, an infectious laugh, and a smile that would light up any room she entered.

Lojean is preceded in death by her daughter, Tricia J. Woods; her parents: Gene and Lodie (Peagler) Hunt Sr.; her siblings: the Rev. Gene Hunt Jr. and Edna Lane Hunt.

Lojean’s memories will forever live on in the hearts of her children: Charmia G. Bonner (Larry) of Winter Springs FL; Andria C. Daniels of Albany NY, and Erik J. Daniels (Michele) of Buffalo, NY; her son-in-law: Terry B. Woods of Lake Alfred, FL. Her thirteen grandchildren: Johari A. Bonner of Orlando, FL; Ahmed A. Wylie of Albany, NY; Jelani A. Bonner (Kelly) of Tempe, AZ; Jarumi A. Bonner of Winter Springs, FL; Troy M. Woods (Anea) of San Diego, CA;  Jakobi A. Bonner of Durham, England; Tyler A. Woods of Winter Haven, FL; Alexandria I. Daniels of Buffalo NY; Terry B. Woods Jr. of Winter Haven, FL; Madeline E. Daniels, Elly Jean Daniels, Eva Joy Daniels and Erik James Daniels – all of Buffalo, NY; as well as her five great-grandchildren: Khloe M. Wylie, Scarlett R. Bonner, Nyelli R. Woods, Everleigh J. Woods and Sloan E. Bonner. She also leaves her siblings: Louise Lewis of Ann Arbor, MI; Lurlean Peterson of Detroit, MI; William E. Hunt of Washington, DC; Joral Hunt of Buffalo, NY; Bettie J. (Hunt) Prettyman of Syracuse, NY; and Arlene Hunt of Long Beach, CA. Her Aunt: Bertha Mae (Hunt) Yelder of Greenville, AL; uncle: Vince Peagler of Sharon, PA.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

COMPASSIONATE/PROFESSIONAL/DEDICATED

The staff of Alexander Funeral Home were most professional and spiritually led. They attended to our family needs as we navigated through the journey of loss during our mother’s (Ms. Ellyce Jenkins) passing. They were both sympathetic and empathetic. Their true genuineness radiated each time they met with us or we spoke with them via phone. Mr. and Mrs. Alexander are loving individuals who are committed to ensuring this journey for the family is met with little or no roadblocks. We were most appreciative of them sharing their feedback when it came to making decisions i.e., ordering programs, family spray, attire and accessories, times, locations, et cetera.

My family and I highly recommend Alexander Funeral Home. They leave no stone unturned. They went over and beyond to ensure that our loved one’s final wishes were met. You will be pleased you selected Alexander Funeral Home to take care of the final remains of your loved one.

HEARTS TENDING, WHILE HEARTS WERE MENDING!

Alexander Funeral Home really tended to my family’s broken hearts while we tried to mend the pieces back together again. We did not know where to begin, but Don showed genuine sympathy from the moment he step into our loved one’s home. Professionalism was no doubt present, but a sense of warmth and comfort exuded from him immediately. He made a difficult time transition into memorable moments my family will cherish for a lifetime. TOP LEVEL SERVICES

06/16/22 – On behalf of our late mother (Justine Gantt), her children and her extended family, we thank you for providing top level services during a distressful and heartbreaking time. Through difficult moments, where clarity and direction may have been uncertain, Mr. Alexander did not take advantage of our vulnerability. At times we felt helpless having not been in this position before but Don and staff were careful not to encroach upon the sensitivity of the situation. Throughout the process he gave us assurances and honored his word. They provided a complete list of services with a thorough explanation to help guide us through this process step by step. There was both sympathy and empathy displayed towards us. Alexander Funeral Home provided additional information, encouragement, sympathy cards and acknowledgements. A full one-stop-shop that has established itself as the top virtuous charnel parlor in town out of the many.

A BLESSING IN THE TIME OF BEREAVEMENT

“The Alexander Family and Funeral Home is a blessing in the time of bereavement. My father’s death was totally unexpected, and though my family could have went to other funeral homes in the city, we chose Alexander Funeral Home. They made the process of making arrangements easy and almost painless. Mr. Alexander is a professional, seasoned funeral director. He enlightened us with important information that one wouldn’t even think about. He was always a phone call away and always had an answer to our questions. Losing a loved one so unexpectedly is unfortunate, although it is a comfort to the heart and spirit when you come into contact with a sincere and compassionate funeral home and services. We are still getting positive comments and compliments about my father’s funeral/home going service. Thank you to the Alexander Family and Funeral Home. May God continue to bless you all! We thank you, The Fields Family.”
